Dining on Maui
- The Maalaea Waterfront - The Smith family owned and operated Maalaea Waterfont boasts a water level view of the East side of Maalaea Harbor. With high standards and reasonable prices the Waterfront has won many awards including the Zagat Survey 2000 for "The Best" in Hawaii Seafood. Dinner starts at 5:00pm. The Lobster Chowder is excellent!
- Seascape Ma'alaea Restaurant - Inside the Maui Ocean Center and open from 11:00am to 3:30pm is perfect for lunch. A wide variety of Seafood and traditional American foods make up the Seascape Menu.
- Ma'alaea Grill - Calling this restaurant a 'grill' is a huge understatement. This quiet but vivacious restaurant is a personal favorite of this writer for several reasons. The first reason to eat at Maalaea Grill is the Service. The waiters and waitresses are prompt and very well organized. Your glass will be refilled before you need ask but they will not hover over you either. The second reason to eat here is that the price is excellent. The prices are low to midrange, (expect $140 for three people with tip). The third reason is that at these low prices the food is outstanding. I have eaten equivalent dishes at several other Maui restaurants and paid three to four times the price. I don't know what the secret at the Maalaea Grill is but I hope it continues to work for them as well as it works for me. Enjoy a great view of Maalaea Harbor from above and enjoy easy Jazz and Bossa Nova on Thursday and Sunday Evenings.
- Buzz's Wharf - Buzz's Wharf is an almost institutionalized establishment of Maui. It is known the world over and is the longest standing Restaurant in Maalaea. Not without reason, Buzz's is a family favorite of many of Maui's Visitors. Buzz's has its own unique and tested menu that continues to delight. Be sure to check them out and bring the kids.
