- Maui Surfer Girls - Who say's girls can't surf? Not this overnight surf camp intensive for beginner and intermediate surfer GIRLS. Testimonials are included about this camp which has ten surf trainers all certified by the American Red Cross in first aid and CPR. Each instructor has completed lifeguard training and experienced at least ten years each with surfing and child instruction. The excellent Billabong Boarding School convenes twice each summer for two two-week camps taught by Billabong sponsored pro surfers.

Surfing on Maui
Maui is known as a world class surf spot and has several remarkable breaks exclusive to the island. The fastest left break in the world called 'Freight Trains' is at Maalaea and one of the largest breaks in the world known internationally as "JAWS" is in Pei'ahi on the North Shore. At least two surfing records were set on a 68 and 70 foot wave here.
If you're not quite ready to be towed into a wave by a jetski for the ultimate thrill, you can still ride waves on Maui down to about 6 inches. The South and West shores harbor a bevy of surf spots ideal for beginner to intermediate. Please always remember, no matter how calm the ocean appears to never turn your back to it while in the water or close to the waters edge. Always take a buddy and you catch up on the surf reports right here in the Luana Kai Lobby.
